This secluded place of extraordinary beauty has been a refuge for Orthodox monks since the end of the 16th century, and in 1592, a monastery church with valuable frescoes was built representing the only example of the Moravian type of architecture in the area of Slavonia. Today, the monastery on the mountain meadow of Krndija is not only visited by Orthodox believers, it is open to everyone and some visitors in search of peace stay there for a few days.
